Dear Readers:
I wrote my Book #1 – AUTOBIOGRAPHY several years ago and since then I have improved my presentation skills in Family History writing. My Second Edition (published today) has some new information and more pictures to help with the story-telling. I believe this version of “REMINISCENCES ON LIFE AS I FOUND IT” does a more thorough job in describing how life was for me in England and Canada over the last 86-years. I have benefitted from a great education, many challenging career opportunitis and great family and friends. If only every young person were so lucky…!
Maybe some day, SOON.
I hope you enjoy retracing my steps, with a few laughs along the way!

Hello: Came upon your site today and see you have done quite a lot of research. I am a descendant of Sir Thomas Lilleywhite. Currently, I live in Toronto, Canada. My closest ancestor is Diana Lillywhite, great grandmother born 1816, Steyning, East Sussex. Would be interested to know a few elements of discovery about this family and what I might expect to find as this is a new area of research for me.
Thanks for your website. Looks very interesting.

Diane: Today I was working in the area of Sir Thomas Lillywhite (1545-1607) who married Alyce KIDDAL (1550-1599). They lived in Yorkshire, England, probably near Flamborough. Sir Thomas died in Yorkshire. He had 2-Sons and 2-Daughters. My Family Tree is on the MyHeritage platform and has 30,000 people identified in hundreds of families back to 1,000 AD – so lots of choice! Many of the Lillywhites are my relations, and live in the Sussex, Hampshire area of Southern England. I haven’t located a Diana Lillywhite yet from 1816, but that may happen.
Let me know if you have any specific Lillywhite Family branches for whom you can give names & dates and I will search further. I lived in that area for 38-years before emigrating to Edmonton for 22-years. We now live in BC.
Happy New Year!

Hi there, I am a descendant of Richard Goble 1485 and would love to know if I can purchase your Book 7 – History of the Modern GOBLE FAMILY of Hampshire, England.
Your website is truely amazing. Thank you. Regards, Anne (Australia)

Anne: Thank you for reading my posting on the Ward Family Blog. I am glad you have found it informative. I have not printed my Books or Vignettes for sale, but I shall be pleased to send you a PDF copy of BOOK #7 on the GOBLE FAMILY by e-mail today. If you read my other works on the Blog you will note that the GOBLE Family of Portsmouth (and now Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) are my personal friends with whom my wife & son still share life with them as we also live now in Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada (only 1,000 miles away). I hope you enjoy Book #7 and many of the other 94-Postings on the Blog. Please let me know if you have any “updates” on the broader GOBLE Family. Happy New Year! John & Phyllis Ward.
Mick
Hi, in your books 6, are there any links to the Mayfield arm of he Lillywhites ?
John G. Ward
Mick: I assume you are referring to MAYFIELD, EAST SUSSEX, ENGLAND? However, I can’t search my LILLYWHITE FAMILY TREE by “location”. I need a NAME and DATES (birth & death) to effectively check my database of 30,000 people – many of whom are LILLYWHITES. If you can send me an e-mail, I shall be pleased to track down your LILLYWHITE relation or to “search” through the MYHERITAGE system. I have several Lillywhites in my wife’s Family Tree – the MONK FAMILY of Charlwood, Surrey and Emsworth, Hampshire. I look forward to hearing from you.

I stumbled across this Web Page researching the Gobel family genealogy.
My 6th Great Grandfather, David Leonard married Sarah Gobel, daughter of Daniel Gobel and Hannah Marsh.
This has been an enjoyable read but what struck me was the title of your Web site as I am also connected to the Ward Family, as the grandson of David Leonard – John G, Leonard married Saloma Dessie War, daughter of Stephen Ward. I didn’t see the connection in your writings but I could have missed something with it being a long read and search.
Thank you for all your wonderful research and historical writing.

I am a direct descendant of Thomas Lillywhite 1545 – he’s my 10th great grandfather. I’m trying to find out how I am related to the cricket Lillywhite’s based on the current Lillywhite’s on my family tree. Are you able to help. I found your PDF so helpful! Thank you
John G. Ward
Sarah: I shall be pleased to help you trace your connection with Thomas Lillywhite. There are usually many people with the same name, but their birth & death dates help us to find the correct ancestor. Also, we need to track the marriage between the MILLYARD family and the LILLYWHITE family. Please give me your, and your Parents dates and I will see if I can find the “merger”. It will be interesting…!

Thanks so much, I’ve dropped you an email!
Matthew Lillywhite
G’day John,
Thanks for the books, it was truly facinating getting more of a perspective of your family, especially my connection to it which, by my surname, you can probably guess my connection.
Specifically I decent from Joshua Lillywhite’s (1669) older brother Thomas (1668) where the family continues in much the same area of Hampshire and Sussex until 1852 where a Professor of Music William Lillywhite (1805) travelled to Australia with his family.
William would be suceeded by 6 generations of Lillywhite’s in Australia to the present day with the generation of my siblings and cousins being the most recent.
Once again thank you for providing so much information about our extended families!
John G. Ward
Matthew:
Glad you enjoyed the LILLYWHITE BOOK. There are 147 other Books and Vignettes on the WARD FAMILY BLOG and I am sure you will find many other descendants reported in England, Australia and America.
Enjoy!,
