Dear John, thank you for the incredible work. Just last week I discovered that I am descended through Isaac Goodman, and most likely a descendent of Johann Michael Guthmann. Just a couple of quick questions before I dive into the work much deeper. In the book, is there meaning behind the use of color? For example, some text is in red, some in blue, etc. Also, I’m interested in exploring some of the original sources in your research. Any chance you’ve kept a log that you can share of where you found some of the names and dates? For example, Niclauss Guthmann as the father of Johann.

Joshua: I am glad you enjoyed reviewing the details of my work on the Ward Family Blog. My use of colour is designed to make the reading easier when understanding the pages and pages of “words”. I use blue for marital text, red for death records and black for all other text. I also add colourful pictures of places & events as well as “Coats of Arms” for each Family. I think this makes retention of the information easier. My sources of information are from several genealogical platforms (MyHeritage, Family Search, FindMyPast, Ancestry.Com etc). I research the internet libraries of Google etc and I examine all Searches and Books I can find. I don’t go to Churches Government Offices…They are too far away! There is much misinformation, incorrect spelling and straightforward misunderstanding in our genealogical world such that accuracy is a “moving target”… We do what we can to be accurate. Nice to “meet” you. Regards, John Graham Ward.
