I am a granddaughter of Hilda Margery Ward (9.9.1902- 4.1972). I have recently started researching the family tree, and would be interested in learning more about the De Wards.

Jo, if you can send me names & dates (birth, death) of your Parents & Grandparents, I shall be pleased to search my WARD FAMILY TREE (30,000 people) and send you what I find. Also, tell me where they lived so I can better differentiate from our American, Australian or English cousins. My e-mail is “john.ward @ eaglepm.org” (all lower-case).
Regards,
John Graham Ward (Vancouver Island, Canada)
Hi John Ward
I enjoyed looking at your 14 page overview of the Ward family and Guiseley’s St Oswald’s church
I am Australian. My GG Grandfather, James Barker Ward arrived here about 1857. He married Elizabeth Jane Young in Tenterfield, NSW, 27th December 1860.
I have been researching my Ward family tree, and so far traced him back to his parents, William and Mary Ward nee Smith, who were married in St Oswald’s Church, Guiseley.
I would be interested to know if they belonged to the Ward family that you have researched.

Suzanne: Thank you for your question about the Ward Family and St.Oswald’s Church in Guiseley, Yorkshire. I would say it is almost certain that anyone named WARD who marries in St. Oswald’s Church will be related to my Family and to many other “branches” of that tree. There are over 48,000 people on the Ward Family Tree so far but I cannot specifically identify the names you quoted without some idea of the dates they may have lived and/or got married in Guiseley. There are hundreds of WILLIAM WARDS (my Family has 3) and the name MARY SMITH is also very numerous. (Note they are named after Kings and Queens of England, so are very popular.) If you can reply to my e-mail it will ensure I don’t miss it in the MyHeritage system. john.ward@eaglepm.org (all LOWER CASE). I look forward to answering your question. PS My Book #160 will be posted in a day or two. John.
